Cholera Outbreak Response Activity
Distributing and Inspecting of Oral Rehydration Point (ORPs) to ensure Compliance with World Health Organization (WHO) Standards in January 2024 at Kanyama. The response activity contributes to the effective prevention and control of cholera outbreaks in Kanyama by ensuring the availability and proper use of Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) for treating dehydration.
Cholera Response Debrief meeting the Copperbelt Provincial Health Office, Ndola in March 2024.
The meeting was held to comprehensively review of the cholera response efforts in the province, identifying successes and areas for improvement. The Key outcomes of the meeting was refining strategies for rapid response, strengthening coordination among stakeholders, and enhancing community engagement to prevent the spread of Cholera.
Multi Sectorial Sub-Regional Meeting on Enhancing Planning of Oral Cholera Vaccine
in Emergency and Preventative Contexts held in Livingstone Zambia 15 to 19 July 2024. The meeting facilitated planning and coordination among stakeholders for the administration of Cholera vaccines in the community.
Strengthening Cholera Data Management at Chawama Level 1 Hospital in January 2024:
The Emergency Preparedness / United States Zambia Embassy - Center for Disease Control and Prevention /Field Epidemiology Training Program team collaborative efforts to enhance the functionality of the cholera tracker system (Electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance System - e-IDSR), clearing backlog, ensuring accurate and near real-time data collection and entry for national updates and decision making. This improvement is critical for the epidemiological characterization of the outbreak, allowing for prioritization interventions and resources to the most vulnerable populations.
Assessment of the Establishing of a Cholera Mortality Surveillance System at Heroes Cholera Treatment Center in January,2024:
Recognizing mortality epidemiology as a cornerstone of public health response, the ZNPHI team established a surveillance system to monitor and analyze cholera-related deaths. This system was important for understanding the dynamics of the outbreak and guiding timely, life-saving interventions.
