Job title: Internal Auditor
Reports to: Head – Internal Audit
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To undertake internal audit assignments for donor-funded and Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) funded programmes at ZNPHI to strengthen accountability, ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and donor requirements and promote effective, efficient and transparent use of public and donor resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct internal audits of donor-funded and GRZ-funded programmes to assess compliance with financial regulations, grant agreements and ZNPHI policies and procedures.
- Review and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance structures and risk management systems in the use of public and donor funds.
- Perform compliance audits to ensure adherence to the Public Finance Management Act, procurement regulations, donor agreements and applicable guidelines.
- Participate in planned, special and ad hoc audit assignments in accordance with the approved annual audit plan.
- Prepare timely, accurate, and comprehensive internal audit reports detailing audit findings, risks and practical recommendations for management and stakeholders.
- Conduct infrastructure audits.
- Undertake asset audits to verify existence, condition and proper utilisation.
- Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are effectively taken and documented.
- Provide advisory support to management on risk mitigation, internal control improvements, and compliance matters.
- Maintain proper audit working papers and documentation in line with Global Internal Audit standards.
- Perform and participate in ICT audits and any other non-ICT audits assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Secondary Education
Full Grade 12 Certificate with credits in Mathematics, English and three other subjects.
Minimum Academic or Professional Qualifications

Full CA-Zambia, ACCA or Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology

Must be a paid-up member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)
Minimum Relevant Experience
-
Minimum of 3 years post-qualification in Audit or ICT audit.

Experience in a government or statutory body will be an added advantage

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Navision, HighBond and ACL analytics tools will be an added advantage.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English with management, programme, and external stakeholders.

Ability to prepare clear, well-structured audit and compliance reports aligned with donor and GRZ reporting requirements.
